To młody, pełen energii wiedeński zespół muzyków wykonujący muzykę współczesną, który swoją nazwę wziął od dziobaka (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) – ssaka składającego jaja. Ideały grupy to możliwie najwyższe standardy muzyczne i artystyczne, jak również promowanie pluralizmu estetycznego i programowego, a także napięć między różnymi gatunkami muzyki i podejściami do wspólnego tworzenia muzyki. W oparciu o to grupa postanowiła też realizować projekty przekraczające i kwestionujące, a nawet burzące konwencje obecne w dzisiejszym życiu muzycznym. Zrównoważona obecność i jednakowe traktowanie kobiet i mężczyzn, czy to w procesie decydowania o koncertach i programowania ich, czy w innych przedsięwzięciach artystycznych, to kolejny wyznacznik sposobu działania zespołu.
Przez ponad 15 lat współpracowali m.in. z: Wien Modern, Wiener Konzerthaus, Klangspuren Schwaz, Forum Wallis, Austriackim Towarzystwem Muzyki Współczesnej). Ponadto zespół samodzielnie zrealizował serię koncertów i wymian międzynarodowych w Europie i Ameryce Południowej a także nawiązał współpracę z takimi kompozytorami, jak Bernhard Lang, Peter Ablinger, Georg Nussbaumer, Manuela Kerer, Tamara Friebel, Maria Gstättner, Matthias Kranebitter czy Mirela Ivičević.
young, energetic Vienna-based ensemble dedicated to contemporary music, named after the platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), a mammal that lays eggs. The group’s guiding principles include the highest possible musical and artistic standards, as well as the promotion of aesthetic and programmatic pluralism, and the exploration of tensions between different musical genres and approaches to collective music-making. Building on these ideas, the ensemble develops projects that cross, question and at times challenge the conventions of contemporary musical life. An equally important aspect of its activity is a balanced presence and equal treatment of women and men – both in decision-making processes related to concert programming and in other artistic initiatives. Over more than 15 years, the ensemble has collaborated with institutions and festivals including Wien Modern, Wiener Konzerthaus, Klangspuren Schwaz, Forum Wallis and the Austrian Society for Contemporary Music. In addition, it has independently organised concert series and international exchange projects in Europe and South America. The ensemble has also worked with composers such as Bernhard Lang, Peter Ablinger, Georg Nussbaumer, Manuela Kerer, Tamara Friebel, Maria Gstättner, Matthias Kranebitter and Mirela Ivičević.
