Założona w 1974 roku w oparciu o działającą od 1956 roku Zielonogórską Orkiestrę Symfoniczną. Początkowo dużą część zespołu stanowili amatorzy, jednak wraz z upaństwowieniem orkiestry w 1961 roku, zaczęli ich zastępować zawodowi muzycy. W latach 80. orkiestra pod dyrekcją Szymona Kawalli rozpoczęła tournée w różnych miastach Polski i poza jej granicami (NRD, ZSRR, Hiszpania, Włochy). Od 2021 roku dyrektorem Filharmonii jest Rafał Kłoczko – dyrygent, kompozytor, aranżer, który wprowadził nowe cykle koncertowe m.in.: :: Miesiąc Kobiet :: czy :: Klasyka bez Granic ::. Ważnym elementem jest również popularyzacja twórczości patrona instytucji – kompozytora Tadeusza Bairda.
ZIELONA GÓRA PHILHARMONIC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
founded in 1974, building on the Zielona Góra Symphony Orchestra, which had been active since 1956. Initially, a large part of the ensemble consisted of amateur musicians; however, following the nationalisation of the orchestra in 1961, they were gradually replaced by professional players. In the 1980s, under the direction of Szymon Kawalla, the orchestra began touring extensively in Poland and abroad, including the former East Germany, the Soviet Union, Spain and Italy. Since 2021, the Philharmonic has been directed by Rafał Kłoczko – conductor, composer and arranger – who introduced new concert series such as :: Women’s Month :: and :: Classics Without Borders ::. An important aspect of the Philharmonic’s activity is also the promotion of the work of its patron, composer Tadeusz Baird.

Współpracowała już z wieloma międzynarodowymi orkiestrami, m.in. The Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, Grazer Philharmoniker, Athens Philharmonia, Filharmonia im. M. Karłowicza w Szczecinie, Filharmonia Poznańska i Filharmonia Zielonogórska. Agata Zając brała udział w wielu kursach mistrzowskich, a jej mentorami byli wybitni pedagodzy, tacy jak Paavo Järvi, Alan Gilbert, Marin Alsop i Peter Eötvös. Lato 2023 roku spędziła na festiwalu muzycznym Tanglewood jako Conducting Fellow pracując pod okiem Andrisa Nelsonsa, dyrektora muzycznego Boston Symphony Orchestra. Obecnie jest dyrygentem-asystentem Ludovica Morlot w Barcelona Symphony Orchestra oraz została mianowana Conducting Fellow w NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester w sezonie 2024/25.

She has collaborated with numerous international orchestras, including the Hallé Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, Manchester Camerata, the Grazer Philharmoniker, Athens Philharmonia, the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, the Poznań Philharmonic and the Zielona Góra Philharmonic. She has participated in numerous masterclasses, working with distinguished mentors such as Paavo Järvi, Alan Gilbert, Marin Alsop and Péter Eötvös. In summer 2023, she attended the Tanglewood Music Festival as a Conducting Fellow, working under Andris Nelsons, Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She is currently assistant conductor to Ludovic Morlot at the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and has been appointed Conducting Fellow at the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra for the 2024/25 season.
